oficio, noun:
trade, profession, job
Oficio is another false friend. Though it ultimately comes from the same Latin word as ‘office’, it means trade or profession.
Esas cosas no tienen nada que ver con mi oficio de escritor
These things have nothing to do with my job as a writer
It’s often used in the phrase de oficio:
Es mecánico de oficio
He’s a mechanic by trade
Hace bien su oficio
He really knows his job or He’s a real professional
