to insist
Insistir corresponds in some uses to English insist. For example:
Bueno, si insistes.
Well, if you insist.
But notice how you use the preposition en in the following phrases:
Insistió en que se trataba de un error.
She insisted it was a mistake.
Los sindicalistas insistieron en que la huelga es la única opción.
The union officials insisted or were adamant that the strike is their only option.
When you insist that somebody do something, you use insistir que and the subjunctive.
Insistió en que nos quedásemos* a cenar.
She insisted that we should stay for dinner.
