carne, noun:
flesh
La carne is another of those Spanish words that cover two English concepts: both animal meat and human flesh.
No como carne.
I don’t eat meat.
Están llegando al punto de comer carne humana para poder sobrevivir.
They’re reaching the point of having to eat human flesh to survive.
In English we talk about seeing someone, or a celeb, in the flesh. In Spanish, the phrase is en carne y hueso (word for word ‘in flesh and bone’).
Vimos aparecer al duque de Marlborough, en carne y hueso.
We saw the Duke of Marlborough appear in the flesh.
