pan, noun:
bread; loaf

Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día.
Give us this day our daily bread

as the Lord’s Prayer says.
In this particular case the Spanish and English are very similar, because they come from a common source.
But in the next case, Spanish expresses the same idea as English in very different words, which reflect the historical importance of bread and wine in Hispanic culture:

llamar al pan pan, y al vino vino
to call a spade a spade

Parece que usted está dispuesto a dejar las cosas claras: a llamar al pan pan, y al vino vino.
You seem to be prepared to make things clear, to call a spade a spade.
