saltar, verb:
to appear
We’ve already seen saltar as the basic word for to jump or to leap:
saltar de alegría
to jump for joy
When followed by a, saltar also has the meaning of something or someone appearing somewhere. For example:
Se van a olvidar de sus derrotas en cuanto nos vean* saltar a la cancha.
They’re going to forget their defeats as soon as they see us come on to the pitch.
Two common phrases with this meaning are saltar a la luz, to come to light, and saltar a la vista, to be patently obvious:
El escándalo saltó a la luz en diciembre del año pasado.
The scandal came to light last December.
Los peligros de esta propuesta saltan a la vista.
. The dangers of this proposal are patently obvious.
