persiana, plural noun:
blinds
As we’ve seen previously, Spanish has borrowed many words from Arabic and English. But it has also absorbed words from other languages, such as French. Persiana refers to blinds of various kinds, such as Venetian blinds. It is an adaptation of the French word persienne, which is a form of the word persien, meaning ‘Persian’. Long ago the idea of having blinds or slats on windows to give privacy must have come to France from Persia (now Iran).
