vacío, adjective:
empty; meaningless

We’ve already come across lleno meaning full. Its opposite is vacío, empty. Like empty, you can use it either literally:

Tu copa esta vacía.
Your glass is empty.

Volvieron a sus cases con las manos vacías.
They went home empty-handed.

Or you can use it figuratively:

un concepto viejo y absolutamente vacío
an old and absolutely meaningless or empty concept
