cuñado, noun:
brother-in-law
Mastering basic family words is useful, so that when you get to know Hispanic families, you know who’s who. The word for brother-in-law is el cuñado.
Mi cuñado me prestó el coche.
My brother-in-law lent me his automobile.
The word for sister-in-law is la cuñada. As with other words for relatives, the plural masculine form can refer to both males and females:
Por suerte, me llevo muy bien con todos mis cuñados.
Fortunately I get on very well with all my brothers- and sisters-in-law.
