medir, verb:
to measure
Medir is a useful word when it comes to working out how big something is. You can use it as a transitive verb for the physical action of measuring something:
¿Has medido la ventana?
Have you measured the window?
Medir conjugates like pedir, so the -e- of the stem becomes -i- in the preterite.
Midieron la distancia entre ambos lugares.
They measured the distance between the two places.
Medir is the word you need to say how tall you are:
Mido 1,80m.
I’m 1.80m tall.
