herido, adjective:
injured, hurt

Herido is the main word you use when talking about being hurt or injured:

Había un hombre herido en el suelo.
There was an injured man lying on the ground.

You often use it with the verb resultar, meaning to be:

Ayer resultaron heridos en una explosión dos soldados.
Two soldiers were injured in an explosion yesterday.

If someone is seriously injured there are two ways of saying it.

Resultó gravemente herido.
He was seriously injured.

Resultó herido de gravedad.
He was seriously injured.

Herido comes from the verb herir, which you conjugate like sentir.
