marco, noun:
frame; goal posts; framework

A good picture needs a good frame to really set it off.

El marco de madera de este hermoso autorretrato es original.
The wooden frame of this beautiful self-portrait is original.

From this literal meaning of frame for a painting or photo, marco has also come to mean the goal posts in soccer. And the framework or context for something such as discussions and agreements:

en el marco del Plan Nacional
within the framework of the National Plan

Ya existe un marco legal para casos de esta índole.
There’s already a legal framework for cases of this kind.
