distinto, adjective:
different; several, various

Distinto is the more common of the two words you can use to convey the idea of different (the other one being diferente).

Esta vez se comportó de forma muy distinta.
This time she behaved very differently.

When one thing is different from another, you use distinto either de or a:

Era distinta de su retrato.
She was different from her portrait.

una novela distinta a lo que he escrito antes
a different novel from what I’ve written before

In the plural, distintos means several or various:

En distintas ciudades se celebraban manifestaciones de protesta.
There were protests in several or different cities.
