sanitario, adjective:
health; sanitary

The main function of sanitario is to describe things related to public health:

la política sanitaria de este Gobierno
this Government’s health policy

asistencia sanitaria pública o privada
public or private health care

educación sanitaria
health education

It only refers to sanitary conditions in a small number of phrases, such as condiciones sanitarias:

Viven en condiciones sanitarias muy inferiores a las de los blancos.
They live in sanitary conditions which are inferior to white people’s.
