tres, adjective, pronoun:
three

Son las tres.
It’s three o’clock.

Why don’t you have a go at reciting this well-known Spanish tongue twister? It was used by the celebrated Cuban author Guillermo Cabrera Infante in the title of his book ‘Tres Tristes Tigres’.
Tres tristes tigres tragaban trigo en un trigal.
(Word for word, three sad tigers were swallowing wheat in a wheat field.)
Incidentally, Spanish does not use the word tercero (third) in dates.

el tres de abril
April third
