puntual, adjective, adverb:
punctual, on time; detailed

Puntual has one obvious meaning, and another one which might at first appear a little puzzling. Its obvious meaning is punctual or on time:

Me esforcé por ser puntual
I made an effort to be punctual or on time

El alcalde fue puntual
The Mayor arrived on time or punctually

Its other meaning is detailed, as in:

el análisis puntual del texto
detailed analysis of the text

Hemos recibido información puntual sobre los sucesos
We’ve received detailed information about events
