From the verb preguntar, to ask, we get the related noun una pregunta, a question. If we want to ask a question, the verb we use is hacer.
Me hizo varias preguntas que no quise contestar
He asked me several questions which I decided not to answer
As you’ll see from the previous example, contestar is one word you can use to answer a question.
Another word you can use is responder (a), but this is more formal or official:
Para responder a esta pregunta necesitamos más información
To answer this question we need more information
