realizar, verb:
to carry out; to undertake
Realizar is often used with certain nouns in the general sense of ‘do’.
Sólo quiere realizar su trabajo sin publicidad.
She just wants to carry out her work without any publicity.
Están realizando un estudio del problema.
An analysis of the problem is being undertaken.
In journalistic language you will find it used with the noun visita:
la visita a la India que los Reyes acaban de realizar...
the trip to India that the King and Queen have just made...
And it is also used with esfuerzo:
Se ha realizado un gran esfuerzo para convencer al público.
A great effort has been made to convince the public.
