almohada, noun:
pillow

Like many Spanish words beginning with the letters ‘al’, this word is derived from Arabic, from the time of the Moorish occupation of Spain. Some others are la alfombra (rug or carpet) and la alcoba (bedroom - NB old-fashioned).
