Dictionary.com Toolbar Instructions
Using the Toolbar
There are a number of different ways you can use the toolbar:
- Type a word directly into the search box and click one of the search buttons
- Click the Dictionary.com logo button to the left of the search box. From here you can navigate to the Dictionary.com home page
- The toolbar also provides quick access to the Dictionary.com Word of the Day and Dictionary.com Fun and Games pages
Moving the Toolbar
You can drag the toolbar to a different location on your browser:
- Click on the vertical separator bar to the left of the Dictionary.com logo button
- Your cursor will appear as two vertical lines with arrows pointing in opposite directions on either side
- While holding down the mouse button, drag the toolbar to the desired location
If you can't move the toolbar and you are using Internet Explorer version 6.0+, you probably have the 'Lock the Toolbars' option enabled. To change this option:
- Under the 'View' menu in your browser, select 'Toolbars'
- The 'Lock the Toolbars' option will be checked. Click it to toggle the lock off
Options
The following options are available by clicking on the arrow on the Dictionary.com logo button.
- Clear History — Clears the history that is automatically kept each time you use the toolbar to look up a word
- Help — Takes you to the toolbar help section
- About — Shows version and copyright information
