What is included in the Dictionary.com Premium service?
Dictionary.com Premium Current List of Features:
- Advertising-free access to the Web sites - Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, Reference.com. (Note: ads will still appear in our emails of Word of the Day and On This Day.)
- More word games: Cryptogram, Hangman, Maze, Phrase Invaders and Slide Solve.
- Word game archives with the last 30 days of puzzles.
How much does it cost?
Only $19.95 for the annual subscription, or $2.95 for the monthly option.
Why are you charging for something that was previously free?
We aren't! Everything that was previously free is still free. Nothing has been taken away; rather, something new has been added. You can still use our free site the same as you always have, but we hope you will agree that upgrading to our Premium service is a great value at a reasonable price.
Do you offer a free trial?
No. You can still use most of the services and features on Dictionary.com for free, so you can get a good idea of what we offer. You can sign up on a monthly basis, however, if you're not ready to sign up for a year.
Is it safe to send my credit card information on the Internet?
All credit card transaction information is sent from your browser to the servers that process the transaction via a securely encrypted connection. We don't even store your credit card information on our servers. In fact we do not keep credit card numbers on any server in any file or database.
Is there a way to pay without using a credit card?
At this time there is not. We are looking into alternative payment methods, however.
What is your refund policy?
Due to the nature of our service, we do not offer refunds. This helps us keep our costs low: if we did allow cancellations we would have to devote staff and resources to processing them, which would require us to raise our prices.
Can I cancel my membership?
There is no formal cancellation process. If you no longer want to use your Dictionary.com Premium account, simply let it expire on its own by choosing not to renew. We do not automatically renew subscriptions, and no further charges will appear on your credit card.
If I get a Premium membership, will the site be faster?
Most likely, yes. The reason is the lack of ads. However, there are many factors that determine how quickly a Web page loads, and not all of them are under our control. But we do strive to keep our site as fast as possible for subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
Can I access Dictionary.com Premium from more than one computer?
Yes! You can stay logged in from up to 3 computers. Note that if you are logged in from 3 computers and log in from a fourth, we will automatically log you out from the computer that was least recently used.
How do renewals work?
We will notify you when your subscription is about to expire, and at that time you can decide whether you wish to continue. We will save your account information for 90 days after your subscription lapses. We do not automatically renew subscriptions, and no further charges will appear on your credit card.
Is my personal information kept secure?
Yes. We take great pains to protect your personal information.
Do you share my personal information?
We do not share your personal information with any other parties without your explicit permission. This means that unless you explicitly tell us it's OK, we won't do it. That is our policy and our promise. Please take a moment to review our privacy policy, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We take your privacy concerns very seriously, and we are committed to protecting your personal information from all unauthorized access.
Does Dictionary.com Premium work with CleverKeys and other software that interacts with Dictionary.com?
Yes! You will still have to be signed in or order to access the Premium features and services via CleverKeys or other software, however.
Is any special software required to listen to the audio pronunciations?
Our audio pronunciation feature uses .wav (pronounced 'dot-wave') files, a common type of audio file. Most modern browsers support this type of file either internally or externally via software such as Windows Media Player, RealOne Player/Real Player, or QuickTime.
To check if your system can properly handle .wav files, click here. You should hear the word example. If you cannot hear the word, refer to our audio pronunciation help FAQ.
Can I switch from monthly to annual or annual to monthly?
Once your current subscription term is expired, you can. However, you cannot switch before the end of your current subscription term.
